It’s very nice weather at Bangalore! Mild and definitely not too hot this time of year. I was told that Delhi could be as hot as 40C in the summer, and as cold as 5C in the winter!
MTR was a very nice restaurant. You know it’s good when you see the locals lining up waiting for it to open for lunch. Even Gandhi had eaten there before! The food is actually the style of food for priests and I found it less greasy and the taste less heavy.
Taking autos / rickshaws can be a challenge for foreigners. Supposedly you should ask them to use the meter but many of them will try to offer a set price (of course higher than the usual meter price). Once, after turning down a few who didn’t want to use the meter, we got one who was willing to, but he took us through a longer route, and ended up charging us even more.
The tree where Buddha got enlightened sounds fascinating, and there are temples built by different countries (e.g. Thai, China) around that tree. Too bad it’s in Northeastern India and I won’t have a chance to go this time. I heard about a Buddhist temple in Coorg (Koorg?), 200 km away from Bangalore, called Golden Temple (not the Golden Temple in Bangalore) and should be interesting too.
So much more to write about but it’s getting late so maybe another time..
